Wingbeat Escapes is a family-run adventure, born from a love of the wild and the raw beauty of the UK’s frontier-like landscapes. Founded by Ed in 2023, it all started after he spent a decade in the London Insurance market. Craving something more, he and his wife Lucy swapped city life for the rugged beauty of rural Scotland, where they now raise their young family—and run Wingbeat Escapes together.
We believe that true escapism means going off-grid without giving up life’s little luxuries. With Wingbeat, you can fall asleep under a proper down duvet, tucked up in a full-size bed, and wake up miles from anywhere, surrounded by Scotland’s breathtaking wilderness. It’s about slowing down, soaking up the landscape, and experiencing the great outdoors in a way that feels both adventurous and effortless.
Between us, we’ve built Wingbeat to be more than just a campervan experience—it’s an invitation to explore, reconnect, and discover Scotland at its wildest and most wonderful.

Where are we?
The Wingbeat fleet is situated in the Southern Uplands, in an enclave of rolling heather moorland within striking distance of Edinburgh, Glasgow and Peebles.
It is the gateway to the north – the Lake District, North York Moors, Highlands and North of Scotland – and just a few hours from the start of the North Coast 500, a 516-mile route that showcases the breathtaking beauty, scale and singularity of the north.
We offer concierge service for collection and drop off at The Gyle Centre, Edinburgh. Please note this requirement when booking. The service is £150 in total for collection and drop off.
